Molokai Hoe on live webcast
Ocean Paddler TV will stream Sunday’s 59th Molokai Hoe live over the Internet for the second year.
More than 1,000 paddlers are competing in the 40.2-mile race across the Kaiwi Channel. The race begins at 8 a.m. off Hale O Lono and finishes at Duke Kahanamoku Beach.
Kala’i Miller will broadcast live from a media boat, with Lauren Spalding Bartlett hosting from the studio at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The webcast also offers live chat beginning at 7:50 a.m.
The Na Wahine O Ke Kai TV special from last month’s women’s Molokai race airs Sunday at 7:30 p.m. on OC 16.

Kawano joins Pan Am Games staff
Honolulu’s Bruce Kawano has been named an assistant coach for the USA Boxing Team that will compete at the Pan American Games later this month. Kawano will be at the training camp in Houston next week and then at the competition, Oct. 17-30, in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Demo derby a cancer benefit
Kalaeloa Raceway Park is holding its “Smash Out Cancer” demolition derby Saturday in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Racing includes hulacross, an extreme offroad race, and motocross starting at 6 p.m. Gates open at 3 p.m.

Pearlside Boxing hosts amateur card
Amateur boxers from Kauai, Maui, Hawaii County and Oahu are part of a 20-bout card Saturday at Pearlside Boxing Club. Fights start at 6:30 p.m. at the Momilani Community Center, 715 Hoomoana St. in Pearl City. Tickets are $12 for 17-over and $7 for ages 8-16. There is no charge for children 7 and under.

Sports festival back at Ko Olina
The International Sports Fest, a two-day event with nine various competitions, returns to Ko Olina Resort next weekend.
Events on Oct. 15 include an aquathon (swim-run), the Lagoon Challenge (swim-run-swim) and a kids triathlon for ages 7-10.
On Oct. 16, events are a sprint triathlon, sprint duathlon (bike-run), youth and junior triathlons for ages 11-19, a 10K run and 5K fun run/walk. Online registration is available.
