Two Schofield Barracks soldiers are accused of robbing a woman of $800 in the middle of the day while they were in uniform.
An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Johnathan Ray Williams, 21, and Tamario James Henry Porter, 24, with second-degree robbery. Williams also was charged with unauthorized possession of confidential personal information.
Bail for each was set at $25,000.
Williams and Porter were partying with the victim, 23, and another young woman at a house in Pearl City on Sept. 1, said Kelli Lee, deputy city prosecutor.
As the men and women were about to leave in separate cars to go to Porter’s apartment, Williams grabbed the victim’s purse and pushed her to the ground at 12:21 p.m., Lee said. Williams jumped into a vehicle with Porter, and the two sped away, she said.
Lee said the woman’s purse contained $800 and her Hawaii driver’s license.
Police arrested the men at Schofield’s Macomb Gate just after 1 p.m.
Lee said police found $695 and the woman’s driver’s license in Williams’ uniform pocket, and found $201 on Porter.
