South shore surf expected to hit 12 feet today
The surf is expected to rise to 8- to 12-feet on the south shore today, prompting a high surf advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The National Weather Service says a storm near New Zealand last week generated the south swell.
Surf was expecgted to rise this afternoon with sets of 12 feet.
The surf could produce dangerous rip currents and beach erosion.
Surf conditions are good on all shores. West shores should see surf of 3- to 6-feet this morning and 5- to 10-feet this afternoon. North and east shores are predicted to be 3- to 5-feet.
The south swell could continue through Thursday.
