Hawaiian Telcom has been added to the Wilshire 5000 stock market index, the company announced Tuesday. The addition was made after the close of the markets Friday as part of the regular monthly adjustments to the stocks that make up the index, Hawaiian Telcom officials said.
"We are pleased with our inclusion in the Wilshire 5000 Total Market Index," said Eric Yeaman, Hawaiian Telcom’s president and CEO. "The addition of Hawaiian Telcom to the Wilshire 5000 will enhance our visibility within the investment community and provide an opportunity to broaden our shareholder base."
The Wilshire 5000 is a broad measure of the U.S. stock market that was developed in 1974.
