A fisherman was found dead Sunday morning in waters off Anahola, Kauai, the county said in a news release.

An off-duty lifeguard spotted what appeared to be a lifeless body in waters approximately 300 yards off of South Aliomanu Road at around 9:45 a.m. 

The 57-year-old Lihue man, identified as Brian Horikami, was brought to shore by Jet Ski, and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. 

Police investigators found the man’s truck parked in the area. An interview with the victim’s girlfriend revealed he was fishing near Aliomanu Sunday morning but was late in returning home.

An autopsy has been requested to determine the cause of death.
