Kua ties for eighth in Burns golf tourney
Hawaii senior TJ Kua played his final 10 holes in 4 under par Friday to earn a share of eighth in the 36th annual John A. Burns Intercollegiate tournament at Turtle Bay Resort’s Arnold Palmer Course.
Kua closed with a 3-under 69 to finish at 213 for the 54-hole event.
The Rainbows remained in ninth on the final day, with a team total of 301.
Tenth-ranked California went wire-to-wire to defend its Burns title, finishing at 17-under 847. UNLV, ranked 14th, and 17th-ranked Duke (286) shared second at 854.
Duke’s Julian Suri was the medalist by four shots at 70—205.
Hawaii-Hilo finished 11th at 892, led by freshman Travis Russell in 18th place at 77—216. Brigham Young-Hawaii was last in the 18-team field at 318—938.
Gravely leads HPU in women’s hoops
Paris Gravely scored 21 points to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 78-50 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Friday night at the McKinley High gym.
Mana Hopkins added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Sea Warriors (13-10, 7-6 Pacific West Conference).
Emily Vore scored 12 points to lead the Argonauts (4-11, 6-17).

Tyler Fricke scored 15 points to lead the Argonauts.
