Church conference will explore progressive faith

The Windward Coalition of Churches is sponsoring a conference called “Off the Map: Charting New Territory for Progressive Faith,” March 9-11 in Kailua.

The event will be led by the Rev. Fred Plumer, president of ProgressiveChristianity.org.

Speakers include Deshna Ubeda, associate director of the Center for Progressive Christianity; the Rev. Kyle Lovett of Church of the Crossroads; the Rev. John Heidel, president of The Interfaith Alliance of Hawaii; and the Rev. Michael Grogan, pastor of Wahiawa Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

>> March 10, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Christ Church Uniting Disciples & Presbyterians, 1300 Kailua Road; $25 (includes lunch).

>> March 11, 10 a.m., Christ Church Uniting. Previous day’s fee applies. Potluck lunch.

10:45 a.m. Feb. 26 as part of a special Lenten series.

Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2140 Main St., Wailuku, Maui, 244-4656. The 10th anniversary
of the church’s Ka Ohana Kitchen, which serves hot meals to the needy every Sunday, will be
celebrated with a hoolaulea open to the public Feb. 26, beginning with worship at 8:30 a.m. and a blessing of the facilities at 10 a.m. Food, entertainment, door prizes and children’s
