Speed is possible factor in fatal pedestrian crash in Waikiki
Speed is a possible factor in a Thursday crash that killed a 68-year-old Honolulu man who was walking in a Waikiki crosswalk, police said.
The man died of multiple blunt force injures from the crash, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said. His identification was not yet released.
Police said a 37-year-old Texas woman was driving a 2011 Jeep in the right-most lane of Kalakaua Avenue when she hit the man who was in a crosswalk at Kealohilani Avenue about 12:30 p.m.
The man was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in serious condition, but died that afternoon, police said.
