Stephanie Ricketts pitched a two-hitter and Leisha Li‘ili‘i belted a grand slam as Hawaii beat Memphis 9-1 on Thursday at the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic at Las Vegas.
Ricketts allowed an unearned run in the fourth, walked one and struck out four.
Li‘ili‘i’s two-out homer to center highlighted a six-run third inning for the Rainbow Wahine.
Hawaii improved to 7-0; Memphis dropped to 2-4.
The Rainbow Wahine will play Portland State and UC Riverside today.

UH swimmer sets record
University of Hawaii senior Vlad Anastasescu set a meet record in the 50 freestyle Thursday at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Monterey Park, Calif.
Anastasescu, a native of Bucharest, Romania, finished the championship final in 20.11 seconds, which was one-hundredth of a second ahead of the previous meet mark. Sean Reilly placed second in the event in 20.14.
In the 1-meter diving event, Doogie Cohen finished second with a score of 334.50. Luke Hayes was fifth with 308.85.
Luca Mazzurana won the 200 individual medley consolation final in 1:50.21, and James Clark placed sixth in the 500 freestyle in 4:29.16.
The competition continues today.
