Brian Ching hoped to end his stellar MLS career with the Houston Dynamo

Kamehameha Schools’ graduate Brian Ching returned to the Houston Dynamo today in a trade that means he will be able to close out his pro soccer career in a city where he has become an iconic figure for the sport.

The Dynamo traded a conditional second round draft choice to the Montreal Impact for their former captain.

"I’m extremely happy to be back here in Houston," Ching told the Star-Advertiser. "I always wanted to be on a franchise that played in its own (soccer-specific) stadium. And now I’m looking forward to doing that in the new stadium that will open up here in May."

Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear said on the team website , "I am very happy to have Brian back with the team. This is a very important year for the Dynamo, and if anyone deserves to be involved with the team, it’s Brian."

Ching, 33, a Haleiwa native, led Houston to three Major League Soccer finals and two championships. He was taken by Montreal in November in the expansion draft.
