Court office fire believed deliberately set
Arson is suspected as the cause of a Wailuku fire that resulted in $250,000 in damage at the Maui-Molokai Drug Court office early Tuesday morning.
Someone broke into the office about 5:25 a.m., police said. The person set fire to numerous items in the office and fled, police said.
Maui firefighters responded to the alarm at 2050 Main St. and extinguished it an hour later. Police asked anyone with information to call Maui CrimeStoppers at 242-6966.
Causes of death released in 4 cases
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office released Wednesday the causes of death for four people who have died since Friday.
Two soldiers who died while trying to cross from Mokolii island to Kualoa Regional Park on Friday drowned, officials said. The deaths of Sgt. John Nguyen, 27, and Pvt. Tuan Huynh, 26, were ruled an accident.
Heber Moulton, 32, who was found in the ocean off Maili on Saturday, died of asphyxia due to drowning while other significant conditions were deferred, officials said. Micah Borengasser, a 19-year-old Kailua man killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday, died of cranial cerebral injuries, the office said. Acute alcohol intoxication was a significant condition in his death, the office said.
