19-year-old dies in Kailua hit-and-run
A 19-year-old man died after he was apparently run over by a hit-and-run driver Saturday night after an argument in Kailua.
Police are looking for a 33-year-old Kailua man in the case. They found his Jeep Cherokee abandoned on Oneawa Street.
The driver and the 19-year-old pedestrian were fighting near Keolu Drive in Kailua’s Enchanted Lake neighborhood about 9:40 p.m. Saturday night when the vehicle drove off, police said.
The 19-year-old man was run over and was taken in critical condition to Castle Medical Center, where he later died.
Police closed Keolu Drive between Pahumele Place and Wanaao Road for several hours to investigate.
1 of 4 suspects arrested in Aiea robbery
A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with a home invasion robbery by men impersonating police officers last month in Aiea.
The man, of no local address, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. in Waipahu on suspicion of robbery, impersonating an officer, probation revocations and a warrant.
Shortly after midnight Aug. 22, four men with badges and a black pistol walked up to two men in a driveway and said they were police and told the men to get on the ground, police said. The robbers then went through the front door of the home and ordered five people in a back bedroom playing video games to the living room, where they told them to empty their pockets.
The robbers took their property and fled in a white pickup truck. The three other robbers remain at large.
