Panel seeks candidates for UH Board of Regents

Nominations are being sought for seats on the University of Hawaii Board of Regents.

The Regents Candidate Advisory Council announced Tuesday the start of the recruitment process to fill four seats on the board. The positions are for Honolulu, Kauai County, a student and an at-large seat. The seats are occupied by those whose term ends June 30, 2012.

Members of the Board of Regents serve voluntarily and are not paid.

The council is required by law to present to the governor the names of at least two finalists for each seat at least 120 days before the expiration of a term. The governor’s appointments from that list are subject to State Senate consent and confirmation. The five-year terms begin July 1, 2012.
