Susa sentenced to life with 10-year minimum for 2009 murder
A state judge sentenced Aaron Susa this morning to the mandatory term of life in prison with the possibility for parole for the 2009 murder of a 25-year-old woman visiting here from New Mexico.
Circuit Judge Dexter Del Rosario ordered Susa, 33, to spend at least 10 years of his life prison term behind bars before he is eligible for parole because he is a repeat offender. The Hawaii Paroling Authority can set a higher minimum.
Susa has prior drug and drug paraphernalia possession convictions.
The nude body of Bryanne Antone washed up on the beach fronting the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Oct. 2, 2009.
Antone had drowned but she also had a broken larynx and ligature marks on her neck. She and her brother were in Hawaii to celebrate their birthdays while their mother attended a dental convention.
