Senior hitter Steven Hunt put down 19 kills and freshman opposite Taylor Averill added 10 but it was not enough as No. 12 Hawaii fell to No. 2 UC Irvine 23-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 in tonight’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior libero Nick Castello had a match-high 12 digs for the Warriors (6-6, 3-4 MPSF), who lost to the Anteaters for the fourth consecutive time.

Senior opposite Carson Clark led UCI (8-2, 4-2) with 19 kills and sophomore hitter Jeremy Dejno added 15.

The teams meet again at 5 p.m. Sunday.
