Trade winds may bring a little relief to hot and humid weather

The recent hot and humid weather conditions over the islands should ease slightly over the next few days as a high pressure system brings a small increase in trade wind strength, forecasters say.

The lingering remnants of tropical storm Fernanda brought a small increase in moisture and disrupted the normal trade wind flow over the last few days.

Forecastgers say it is summer and it will still be hot. Temperatures in Honolulu could hit 90 degrees today. But a high pressure system northeast of the islands is strengthening and should bring some relief with the return of moderate trade winds starting Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters are predicting winds will increase to 15 to 20 mph.  Highs in the upper 80s for the rest of the week with lows between 71 and 76 at night.
