Hawaii picked second in WAC softball poll
The University of Hawaii softball team placed second in the Western Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll released Tuesday.
Fresno State topped the poll, followed by UH, which received two first-place votes. Defending WAC champion New Mexico State came in third. Brigham Young, which joins the league for softball this season, was fourth.
UH shortstop Jessica Iwata, pitcher Stephanie Ricketts and outfielders Alex Aguirre and Kelly Majam were named to the 16-player preseason All-WAC team.
The Wahine open the season Feb. 9 against Seattle in the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic.
