Fire damages Laie house; no one is injured
Initial indications are that electrical problems caused a fire Tuesday morning that damaged the second-floor bedroom of a home in Laie, a fire official said.
The fire happened at about 7:20 a.m. at a house on 55-000 block of Kamehameha Highway where nine people live.
However, only two people were home and tried to control the blaze by using a garden hose, said Capt. Terry Seelig, Fire Department spokesman.
The flames were put out just before 7:30 a.m., fire officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Damage was estimated at $80,000 to the structure and $20,000 to the contents.
