Parasailors critically hurt in accident
Two visitors from Palm Springs, Calif., were in critical condition from a parasailing accident Sunday at Kewalo Basin.
According to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Carlton Yamada, the two men were in the middle of a tandem ride when they somehow made contact with the water and were dragged approximately 1,000 feet. Crew members from the X-Treme Parasail vessel were able to pull the men back into the boat and began CPR.
HFD rescue personnel assisted the men on shore, and CPR was continued on one of the men as both were taken to an area hospital.
Both men were listed in critical condition.
The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the incident.
Counterfeit bill leads to arrest of 2 men
A Kalihi man was arrested Thursday after he confessed to giving his older roommate a counterfeit bill that got the roommate arrested, police said.
Officers were arresting a 34-year-old man at about 12:45 p.m. after he allegedly tried to buy items from a Kalihi convenience store with the counterfeit bill when the younger man went into the store and admitted that he gave the 34-year-old man the bill, police said.
Officers arrested both men fronting the Middle Street Meat Market for investigation of first-degree forgery.
The older man posted $100 bail and was released, while the younger man was released pending investigation.
Police apprehend burglary suspect
Police responding to a report of a burglary in progress Saturday in East Honolulu found a 26-year-old man near a different residence where another burglary had just occurred.
The man was arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary and two counts of theft just after 10 a.m.
The burglary was reported by a 69-year-old woman.
