The Hawaii-based military command that searches for missing U.S. servicemen and women has recently deployed teams to Vietnam, Canada, Vanuatu, Germany and Papua New Guinea to search for Americans unaccounted for from the Vietnam War and World War II.

The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command said Friday the missions were the last ones due to deploy during the fiscal year ending Sept. 30.  

In Vietnam, about 35 team members will search for five Americans at burial and aircraft crash sites in three provinces. They expect to spend 35 days on the mission.

Separately, JPAC team members and Navy divers from Virginia Beach, Va. have deployed to Newfoundland province in Canada to search for three Americans that remain unaccounted-for from a World War II aircraft crash. The team will spend 30 days conducting underwater excavations.
