Is your child ready for kindergarten?
Getting ready for the first year of school will be the topic of a special storytime at the Hawaii State
Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 in the Edna Allyn Room for Children.
Children ages 2 to 5, accompanied by a parent or caregiver, are invited to storytime followed by a craft project or coloring activity, along with optional screening for kindergarten readiness.
The screening — based on the Hawaii State School Readiness Assessment standards — tests for possible hearing, vision and developmental issues. Results are confidential. Private screenings may be scheduled for a later date.
The event is presented by the library, along with the Learning Disabilities Association of Hawaii Ekolu Eha Ike Pono School Reading Project.
Hawaii State Library is at 478 S. King St. Call 586-3510. For information on screenings, call 696-5361.
