Kapaa man is indicted on 19 counts
A grand jury on Kauai has charged a Kapaa man with first-degree attempted murder and other offenses regarding a Jan. 5 shooting incident.
The Kauai County Prosecutor’s Office said Kevin K. Christian, 41, fired a gun at a Kauai police officer and into a neighboring home from his yard on Jan. 5. Police arrested Christian early the next morning after police crisis negotiators convinced him to surrender.
A grand jury on Thursday returned a 19-count indictment against Christian. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, two counts each of terroristic threatening and criminal property damage, and 13 counts of reckless endangering.
Circuit Judge Kathleen Watanabe set bail at $650,000. Christian remains in custody pending his initial appearance in Circuit Court.
