The 10th annual Native Hawaiian Convention has 500 people signed up, with the event being two weeks away.
Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement said Monday the event is one of the largest gatherings of native Hawaiian leaders across the state.
The three-day event begins Aug. 23 at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu.
Hawaii’s congressional delegates, the governor and officials with the Obama White House Initiative on Pacific Islanders are among those expected to attend.
Issues to be discussed include cultural preservation, education, housing, economic development, and self-determination.
