Chaminade fetes Leahey, Vasconcellos
Sportscaster Jim Leahey and former Chaminade athletic director Mike Vasconcellos will be inducted into the Silversword Hall of Fame at the school’s fourth Athletics Gala, March 16, at the Pacific Beach Hotel Grand Ballroom at 6 p.m.
Former Punahou baseball coach Pal Eldredge is the keynote speaker, with former NFL coach Dick Vermeil also on the dais.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
BYUH edges Dominican in hoops
Tsung-Hsien Chang scored 25 points to lead Brigham Young Hawaii to a 74-73 men’s basketball win over Dominican in San Rafael, Calif., on Monday.
Junior Ale added 16 points for the Seasiders (8-7, 6-1).
Jacob Noisat led the Penguins (3-15, 2-5) with 17 points.
Chaminade wallops Academy of Art
Chaminade dropped Academy of Art 101-88 in men’s hoops in San Francisco on Monday.
Bennie Murray led the way for the Silverswords (8-6, 6-1) with 34 points, and Matt Cousins added 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Czar Robotham had 27 points for the Urban Knights (3-16, 1-8).
Honor roll
» Jet Chang, BYUH: The senior guard averaged 25.0 points, leading the conference in scoring, as the Seasiders went 1-1. He was 13-for-16 from the line and 5-for-11 on 3-pointers.
» Matt Cousins, CU: The senior big man averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds for the Silverswords, who went 1-1 last week. He was 18-for-21 from the line.
» Fran Urli, HPU: The senior guard averaged 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds for the Sea Warriors in a 1-1 week. He was 16-for-19 from the line.
» Zachary Wilde, UHH: The senior forward averaged 13.0 points and a conference-best 11.5 rebounds as the Vulcans went 0-2 on the road. He was 9-for-11 from the line.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Washington scores 28 to lead BYUH
Shayla Washington scored 28 points and added 11 rebounds to lead the BYUH women’s team to a 78-71 win over Dominican in San Francisco on Monday.
Taylor Mann scored 21 points with 17 rebounds for the Seasiders (3-12, 2-5).
Lauren Hyatt, Kayla Valentine and Sarah Nelson all had 14 points for the Penguins (2-15, 1-6).
» Alisa Griggs scored 14 points to power Academy of Art to a 73-52 win over Chaminade in women’s basketball on Monday in San Francisco.
Ariel Dale added 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Urban Knights (11-6, 7-2).
Kelly Costello scored 17 points and Nikki Tauau chipped in with 15 points for the Silverswords (0-13, 0-7).

» Danyele Hoffman, BYUH: The freshman guard averaged 10.5 assists, tops in the conference, as the Seasiders went 1-1. She also had six steals.
» Danna Lynn Hooper, BYUH: The sophomore guard out of Molokai High averaged 19.0 points and was
8-for-16 on 3-pointers for the Seasiders.
» Mana Hopkins, HPU: The senior forward out of Konawaena averaged 22.3 points, second in the conference, and was 8-for-16 in 3-point shooting as the Sea Warriors went 1-2.
» Hillary Hurley, UHH: The senior forward averaged 15.0 points and 12.0 rebounds for the Vulcans in an 0-2 week. She also was 12-for-14 from the line.
» Taiyande Huskey, HPU: The senior guard averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 7.7 rebounds for the Sea Warriors.
» Shayla Washington, BYUH: The junior forward averaged 24.5 points, leading the conference in scoring, with 22 rebounds.
