Big Island police warn about car break-ins in lower Puna

Big Island police are warning the public about recent car break-ins in the lower Puna area at isolated parks ranging from Lava Tree Park to Kehena Beach Parking Lot. 

The suspects enter the vehicles by breaking glass or reaching in a partially opened window to unlock the door. Victims of these crimes have included visitors and local residents. 

Police said unattended vehicles should be locked and secured properly. The public is advised not to leave valuables in vehicles. If it is necessary to do so, conceal items out of view.
