Former Hawaii quarterback and coach Nick Rolovich has been offered the offensive coordinator’s job at Massachusetts.
Rolovich, who was a finalist for at least three other coaching jobs, has yet to sign a contract with the Minutemen.
Rolovich was a record-setting quarterback for the Warriors in 2000 and 2001. The Warriors’ victory over Brigham Young in 2001, which he played a large role in, helped spawn the creation of the Hawaii Bowl the following year.
After a career in the Arena Football League and a coaching job at City College of San Francisco, Rolovich was hired as the Warriors’ quarterbacks coach in 2008, Greg McMackin’s first season as UH coach.
Rolovich began calling the offensive plays in the second game of the 2009 season. He was named the offensive coordinator in 2010. That year, the Warriors went 10-4, winning a share of the Western Athletic Conference title, and Bryant Moniz emerged as a highly regarded quarterback.
Rolovich was not retained on the UH coaching staff after McMackin “retired” and Norm Chow was named head coach.
