Waipahu house fire displaces five occupants
Fire caused substantial damage to a home in Waipahu Tuesday evening, displacing five people for at least the night.
Firefighters responded to the call on Pilimai Street at 5:51 p.m. The blaze was reported under control at 6:21, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
A man, who appeared to be in his 40s, was injured slightly when he got burned by oil, possibly from cooking, Seelig said. He received treatment at the scene but declined to go to the hospital.
Two other people were in the one-story, single-family wooden house at the time of the fire, Seelig said.
Fire investigators will return to the home today to look into the cause of the fire. A damage estimate was not available last night.
The Red Cross is helping the family displaced by the fire.
