Massage workshop planned for Kilauea
Michelle Wall-O’Connor will share her knowledge of Hawaiian massage — lomilomi — at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Kilauea Visitor Center lanai at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Wall-O’Connor, a student of the late Auntie Margaret Machado, the first lomilomi instructor in Hawaii, has a full-time lomilomi practice.
Pets stay for free at Kaneohe hotel
The new Paradise Bay Resort, a 40-room boutique hotel on Kaneohe Bay, is celebrating its launch with a "Pets in Paradise" offer that waives the regular $50 fee for animals from July through September. Pets will get their own "creature comforts," including "in-room pet beds, doggie bowls, healthy treats and toys," according to a press statements. Pets and owners also will get a 50 percent discount on the hotel’s spa services.
In addition, 10 percent of the "Pets in Paradise" bookings will be donated to the Oahu Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Resort owner Stephanie Ryan is founder and president of the Oahu SPCA.

Ritzy pastry chefs to share secrets
The pastry chefs from the Imperial Hotel Tokyo and the Halekulani will team up next month to offer cooking demonstrations and afternoon tea and champagne events at the Halekulani.
Imperial pastry master chef Kanjiro Mochizuki and Halekulani’s pastry chef Mark Freischmidt will work in tandem to present "The Art of the Dessert." The schedule includes:
» Pastry demonstration and afternoon tea service, 2:30-4:30 p.m. Aug. 6, Garden Terrace. $50.
» Sunday brunch, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Aug. 7, Orchids restaurant. $57.
» Veranda Afternoon tea, featuring Mochizuki’s dessert selection, 3-5:30 p.m. daily Aug. 8-31 at the Veranda Tea Room. $28.

Hana festival brings cultural fun
The Hana Cultural Center Ho‘olaule‘a is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Hasegawa Fairgrounds.
