A Wahiawa doctor has been sentenced to five months in jail for his conviction of assaulting his former wife.

Wesley Young was also ordered by Circuit Judge Michael Wilson on Friday to serve five years’ probation for the second-degree assault of his wife at the time at their Aiea Heights home in March 2009.

City Deputy Prosecutor Adrian Dhakhwa said Young head butted the victim, breaking her eye socket.

Young has a prior conviction for pleading guilty in 1998 of sexual contact with an 8-year-old girl. 

He was placed on five years’ probation in that case but permitted to continue practicing medicine as long as another adult was present when he treated minor patients.
