Man arrested on suspicion of robbery at Waikiki condo

Police have arrested one of several people who allegedly bound a 44-year-old man in his home in Waikiki and tried to rob him.

The 34-year-old man remained in police custody Tuesday, arrested for investigation of first-degree robbery.

Police said the victim was with two female acquaintances in his apartment at the Hawaiian Monarch about 5 a.m. Saturday. He ended up bound in his home, and unknown men had entered the apartment and tried to open his safe. The men left shortly after.

On Monday, the man saw one of the men who tried to pry open his safe on Saturday. The alleged robber was arrested at the Hawaiian Monarch, where he lives.
