A Hawi man was charged with stabbing a firefighter in the head multiple times with a ballpoint pen Tuesday.
Dylan Trumpy, 29, was charged with second-degree assault and first-degree terroristic threatening. He was being held at the Kona police cellblock in lieu of $4,000 bail.
North Kohala patrol officers responded to a call from the Hawi fire station at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday and saw a firefighter struggling with Trumpy in the driveway. The firefighter’s head was bleeding, police said.
The incident began when Trumpy drove to the station and became disorderly and aggressive, demanding information and names of the firefighters at the station, police said. He allegedly attacked the firefighter after being asked to leave.
The 49-year-old firefighter was treated at Kohala Hospital and released.
