Bangladesh police: 6 killed over robbery suspicion

DHAKA, Bangladesh(AP) — Police say six college students were beaten to death in a Bangladesh village by a mob of people suspicious the boys were planning a robbery.

Local police officer Anwar Hossain say a seventh teenager survived the mob beating early Monday and was sent to a hospital.

Hossain said the boys were sitting at a bus station outside the village when someone raised a robbery alarm. Hundreds of villagers surrounded the teens and beat them.

Hossain said Baradeshi residents have been on guard since a robbery committed two weeks ago in the village near the capital, Dhaka.

Such mob attacks are common in Bangladesh where public have little trust in police.
