High surf advisory extended until 6 a.m. Wednesday
The National Weather Service has extended until 6 a.m. Wednesday a high surf advisory for east-facing shores of all islands.
Strong trade winds will continue to produce choppy surf of 6 to 8 feet. A small-craft advisory is also in effect for that period.
In addition, the weather service has issued a high-wind advisory for Haleakala summit until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Elevations above 6,000 feet may experience east winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of up to 50 mph.
Driving may be difficult for high-profile vehicles, the weather service said.
