City plans to transfer Sand Island sewage elsewhere

Waste might be hauled from the Sand Island Wastewater Treatment Plant to treatment facilities in Ewa Beach, Waianae and Kailua as early as the end of the month. The egg-shaped dome is an anaerobic digester for solid waste.
