Body of man found floating in harbor
The body of a 59-year-old man was found Tuesday in Honolulu Harbor. Police said the death did not appear to be suspicious.
The body was found floating at about 1:15 p.m. Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office has not released his name.
Burglars take cash, items from law library
The William S. Richardson School of Law library was burglarized this week, University of Hawaii-Manoa Campus Security said.
The break-in happened Monday, probably between 1 and 9 a.m., officials said. Offices and files were broken into, and some items were taken, including about $400 in cash, Campus Security said.
Police were assisting in the investigation, dusting for fingerprints and taking statements from library staff members.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity possibly related to the burglary is asked to call Campus Security at 956-6911.
Man nabbed after attempt to take iPod
A 21-year-old Kapolei man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly tried to take an iPod from a customer at the Kapolei Jack in the Box restaurant.
Police said a 19-year-old man was standing outside the restaurant at 6:30 p.m. when a man tried to take the music player. The victim ran into the restaurant to get away from the robber.
The restaurant’s 36-year-old manager stopped the suspect, who punched the manager in the face and ran away.
Police searched the area and found the suspect in an adjacent park. He is facing second-degree robbery and second-degree assault charges.
