Medical Examiner identifies drowning victim
The Honolulu Medical Examiner identified the 40-year-old man who died Sunday morning in an apparent drowning on the North Shore as Lloyd Earley, of Texas.
Earley was swimming with a woman in waters off Ke Iki Beach on the North Shore, when they both got into trouble and called for help.
Bystanders were able to bring the woman safely to shore. However, when they returned to help Earley, he was floating unconscious, officials said.
The bystanders performed CPR until Honolulu Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived.
Earley was taken in critical condition to the hospital, where he later died.
An autopsy will be conducted today to determine the cause of death.
