Suspect uses knife to rob cabdriver
Police are looking for a man who robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint Sunday night.
Police say the 58-year-old driver picked up a man in his 20s and drove him to a parking lot in the McCully area, where the suspect allegedly held a knife to the victim’s neck and demanded money.
He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash at about 6:20 p.m.
Kaneohe blaze started in closet
A fire that displaced a couple Monday morning appears to have originated in the washer and dryer closet of their apartment unit, said Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.
Honolulu Fire Department crews arrived at Hale Anaole, an apartment complex on Kahuhipa Street in Kaneohe, at 9:49 a.m. and had the fire out by 10:24 a.m.
The fire was contained to the hallway and kitchen of the 10th-floor unit.
No one was hurt. Damage was estimated at $30,000.

Water tanker’s driver killed in accident
A Hawaii island man died Monday after the water tanker he was driving overturned at Keahole Airport.
Hawaii County police said 36-year-old Newton K. Leslie of Honaunau was operating a 2001 Stirling water tanker when it overturned at about 11:35 a.m.
Leslie was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the passenger door window, police said.
The tanker was carrying a full load of water when police say Leslie lost control on a curve in the roadway and the truck overturned. Police said they believe excessive speed was a factor.
Leslie was pronounced dead at 3:01 p.m. at the scene, fire officials said.
The tanker belongs to a construction company doing work at the airport, police said. The accident occurred within the airport on a road not open to the public, so it is not counted toward the official traffic fatality count.
Drowning victim’s name disclosed
The California visitor who drowned at Kipu Falls on Kauai has been identified as Santhosh Heddese of Irvine.
He ran into trouble Sunday after jumping off the top of the falls, said Kauai fire Chief Robert Westerman.
