Woman almost drowns at Waimea
A 62-year-old woman was in critical condition Sunday following a near drowning at Waimea Bay.
Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the 2 p.m. call and found the woman unconscious. They resuscitated her before transporting her to an area hospital.
The incident might have been precipitated by a medical event, according to an EMS spokesman.
Boy is injured taking spill on dock
An 8-year-old boy was taken by helicopter to Hilo after he slipped and struck his head on the pier at Pohoiki Boat Ramp in Pahoa and fell into the ocean Saturday night, Hawaii County firefighters said.
A lifeguard was treating the unconscious boy when firefighters arrived at 5:34 p.m.
Waianae man held in officer’s assault
A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Honolulu police sergeant who was escorting him out of the Zanzabar Nightclub at the Waikiki Trade Center early Saturday morning.
Police said they broke up an argument at the Waikiki nightclub at about 3:30 a.m. and were taking a suspect away from the crowd when he became unruly and assaulted the sergeant.
The sergeant managed to subdue the suspect, a 21-year-old Waianae man, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.
The sergeant was taken to the hospital, treated and released with minor injuries, detectives said.
