A man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Honolulu police sergeant who was escorting him out of the Zanzabar Nightclub at the Waikiki Trade Center early Saturday morning.

Police said they broke up an argument at the Waikiki nightclub at about 3:30 a.m. and were taking a suspect away from the crowd when he became unruly and assaulted the sergeant.

The sergeant managed to subdue the suspect, a 21-year-old Waianae man, who was arrested for assaulting a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct.

The sergeant was taken to the hospital, treated and released with minor injuries, detectives said.
