“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN HENRY!” 1. John Henry Felix, center, celebrated his 81st birthday by hosting a Hawaiian dinner for 50 friends and relatives June 18 at his East Honolulu residence. His guests included Ken Wong, left, “a friend for more than 66 years”; his aunt Mary Olsen, “who cared for him when he was a baby”; Dr. Lawrence K.W. Tseu, “a friend for 72 years”; and Danny Kaleikini, “a friend for more than 50 years.” Felix said after dinner, “Growing old is relative. It’s relative if you have a relative who’s living who is older than you.”

JAKE ROCKS THE AQUARIUM 4. Waikiki Aquarium Director Andrew Rossiter, left, and his wife, Yoshiko, chatted with Jake and Bruce Shimabukuro after Jake’s sold-out Ke Kani o ke Kai concert June 16 at the aquarium. Bruce was the surprise guest at the concert, which included compositions by George Harrison, Freddy Mercury and Taylor Swift. Jake stayed on to pose for photos with fans and sign CDs for 45 minutes.

Falletta, the new group’s artistic director, Monder and Cayetano gave guests an update on plans to open the HSO’s premiere season this fall.

Eddie Ramirez, left, congratulated Society of Seven members Bert Sagum and Wayne Wakai, and the group’s special guest, Martin Nievera, after the opening night June 14 at the Outrigger Main Showroom. The post-show conversation with Sagum was a reunion for Ramirez; he was a member of the SOS for 10 years in the 1980s.

2 ‘KINGS’ AT DOT’S 2. Augie T, left, and Frank De Lima struck a pose after their “Portuguese Kings of Comedy” Father’s Day Show June 19 at Dot’s in Wahiawa. Father’s Day with De Lima at Dot’s is a local tradition, and this year he brought Augie with him. They meshed perfectly working as a comic duo and entertaining the crowd as separate solo comedians.
