Madison Benzor and Anthony Weingarten, two Oahu elementary school students, are having their artwork displayed in Washington, D.C., this month, the beginning of a two-year touring exhibit at museums across the country.

Benzor, a fifth-grader at the Myron B. Thompson Academy, and Weingarten, a third-grader at Kipapa Elementary School, were selected from among more than 4,500 entries across the U.S. to be part of the 2011 All Kids Can CREATE exhibit, with the theme "Imagination Across America."

The exhibit features two pieces of artwork from students in every state and the District of Columbia.

Benzor’s drawing, "Shark Paradise," shows a female scuba diver surrounded by Hawaii’s friendly sharks in deep blue waters beneath emerald green mountains and a bright sun, while Weingarten created a more abstract, multicolored drawing incorporating robotlike creatures, entitled "The Art of the Messiest."

The program is presented by CVS Caremark and VSA Hawaii, a partner with the University of Hawaii Center on Disability Studies.
