Young farmers on film
Food activists, take heart: The re-emergence of the American farmer is under way. "The Greenhorns," a documentary directed by young farmer Severine von Tscharner Fleming, features a new generation of U.S. agrarians who approach farming with their brains as well as their brawn. These visionaries focus on healthy food, local foodsheds and the revitalization of rural economies in the face of rapid loss of farmland to development. The free Hawaii premiere of the film, sponsored by She Grows Food and Asagi Hatchery, screens at 7 p.m. July 1 at University of Hawaii-Manoa’s art auditorium. Call 622-4032 or 845-4522.
