Abercrombie appointees weren’t asked to step down
Three state agency heads and two board members appointed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie weren’t asked to voluntarily resign, unlike 27 of their colleagues who were appointed by former Gov. Linda Lingle.
The state Senate unanimously confirmed these five board members this year.
They are Public Utilities Commission Chairwoman Hermina Morita, Board of Land and Natural Resources Chairman William Aila, Land Use Commissioner Jaye Napua Makua, Land Use Commissioner Ernest Matsumura and Department of Human Services Director Patricia McManaman, who serves on the Hawaii Public Housing Authority.
Abercrombie also didn’t seek the resignations of five board members whose terms expire June 30.
Abercrombie’s office said Monday it sent letters seeking resignations of 28 board members, but one of them, Clarissa Hosino of the Public Housing Authority, resigned this spring.
