Ford Island control tower shows off its flying colors

Scaffolding still surrounds the newly painted and restored Ford Island Control Tower. The tower's $8 million renovation was completed in time for the Pacific Aviation Museum's fifth anniversary, with its annual fundraiser today, and the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

20111130-132 CTY TOWER The Pacific Aviation Museum-Pearl Harbor has unveiled the newly-painted and restored Ford Island Control Tower in time to celebrate the Museum's 5th Anniversary with its big annual fundraiser Dec. 1st and the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Workers are removing the scaffolding (first exposing the top) that encircled the entire tower during the restoration work. The entire control tower restoration project is about $8 million.
