Former caregiver arrested for allegedly stealing $32,000 from woman
A 52-year-old woman who allegedly stole $32,000 from the elderly woman she was supposed to be caring for was arrested Thursday for investigation of theft and forgery.
Police said the woman was the unlicensed caregiver for an 86-year-old woman between February and May 2008.
During that time, the younger woman stole 11 checks from the woman, forged the checks, and stole about $32,000, police said. The woman later reimbursed $9,000 to the older woman’s account.
She turned herself in today after returning last month from the mainland where she was for two years.
The woman was booked on suspicion of first-degree theft and 11 counts of second-degree forgery.
