HPU men dominate Alaska-Fairbanks
Fran Urli missed only one shot from the field and scored 17 points as the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team beat visiting Alaska-Fairbanks 74-60 on Thursday.
The Sea Warriors (1-3) built up a 27-point lead in the second half and cruised to the win. The Nanooks dropped to 1-5.
Hawaii Pacific hosts Western New Mexico tonight at 6:30 at the Neal Blaisdell Center.
Chaminade women lose in final seconds
Chaminade’s Rhani Kaneaiakala scored 15 points, but Wilmington hit a runner in the paint with 3 seconds left to lead the Lady Wildcats over the Silverswords 59-57 in the Oahu Classic at McKinley High School.
Sophomore Glacen Florita added 13 points for the Silverswords (0-1). Wilmington improved to 1-1.
Chaminade takes on St. Augustine’s College today at 3 p.m.
