The 27th annual Honolulu City Lights opens Dec. 3, and new to this year’s lawn display at Honolulu Hale are 12-foot-tall figures of stars, snowmen, gingerbread people and trees designed by Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Fun participants.
The keiki whose entries were selected in the Mayor’s Winter Ornament Cookie Cutter art contest are:

» Laie Summer Fun: Ciara Horomona, Amber Lynn Leota, Letau Polvado, Keahi Rivera
» Waipahu Summer Fun: Chase Kaseli, Nathan Mones, Zaren Vincent
The Dec. 3 celebration will open at 4 p.m. with food booths and rides, and a Kawaiaha‘o Church concert at 5 p.m. The popular Public Workers Electric Light Parade will start at 6 p.m. at River Street, making its way down King Street to Honolulu Hale. The opening ceremony also starts at 6 p.m., with Mayor Peter Carlisle expected to throw the switch on the city’s 50-foot holiday tree and the “corridor of lights” at 6:30 p.m.
The parade and tree-lighting ceremony will be shown live on ‘Olelo starting at 6 p.m.
