Eastern Washington runs past UH basketball team
Eastern Washington forward Collin Chiverton scored 20 points and the Eagles sent the Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 89-72 loss tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH led early, but EWU went on a 25-5 run to end the first half and start the second to take control.
Chiverton led four Eagles in double figures. Forward Cliff Ederaine added 18 points, point guard Cliff Colimon added 15 and guard Jeffrey Forbes accord 14.
Guard Zane Johnson led UH (1-2) with 14 points. Center Vander Joaquim and forward Trevor Wiseman finished with 12 points each.
Hawaii led took an early lead, but Eastern Washington closed the first half with a 12-2 run with Chiverton accounting for all of the Eagles’ scoring.
EWU (2-2) took a 33-29 advantage into halftime and hit three 3-pointers in the first 4:30 of the second half to stretch the lead to 46-32 and led by double digits the rest of the way.
