Police are looking for a man who assaulted another man in his 20s at Heeia Pier in Kaneohe Monday, sending the man to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened when the two men squared off about 6 p.m.

The assailant punched the other man, who fell down and hit his head on the asphalt, police said. The victim apparently had a cut on his cheek from the punch. 

Paramedics took the injured man to the hospital in critical condition, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said. 

Police have opened a second-degree assault case.
