A man found sleeping in a vehicle at a Pearl City intersection Friday morning was arrested for drug offenses after he threw down a glass pipe in front of officers, police said.

An officer saw the vehicle stopped on Farrington Highway near Waiawa Road at 3:44 a.m. and noticed the man slumped over the steering wheel, police said. The man allegedly failed a field sobriety test, and when police were trying to handcuff him, he allegedly reached into his his pocket and threw a glass pipe into the roadway. Police said the man struggled briefly with officers and was arrested for drunken driving and drug offenses.
